Your terminal takes the fund's card too.

La Caisse is open-source software for local solidarity funds, clubs and community spaces. A fund issues its own token, its members carry it on a card, and the Citizen Terminal is where they spend it. You collect tokens; the fund pays you in euros.

01/What La Caisse is

A fund, its members, and the places they spend.

A fund is a shared pot of money — contributions, dues, donations, grants — that pays out to the people and businesses keeping things running. La Caisse runs the loop: members in, payouts out. This is the short version; the long one lives at lacaisse.eu.

01

Members receive and spend

Each member gets a balance in the fund's own token and a card to spend it with. No app, no phone and no bank account needed at the counter.

02

The fund team runs it

Allocations, dues or memberships, member onboarding, reminders, reporting. The fund sets its rules and La Caisse does the admin.

03

Merchants get paid

That's you. You accept the card on a Citizen Terminal and the fund pays what it owes you by bank transfer, on a cycle it sets.

Built for La CLASS, a local solidarity food fund, and open-sourced so other funds can run it.

02/On your terminal

A tap, like a badge.

The member's card carries the fund's tokens. You enter the amount, they tap the card on the Citizen Terminal, and the balance drops on the spot. The sale lands in your dashboard like any other, marked with the fund.

Accepting fund money
  • Read by our terminal itself — no partner card terminal involved
  • Runs next to QR and your own tokens on the same device
  • Counter, fridge or vending machine — wherever a terminal is
  • Nothing for the member to install, charge or sign up for

A fund card is not a bank card. It carries the fund's tokens the way a badge carries your own members' credit: one token method, one more carrier.

03/Getting paid

Tokens in. Euros out.

The fund issues its token and the fund is who pays you. Citizen Pay runs the terminal, keeps the books and shows you both sides.

Step01

Connect once

The fund invites you by email. You sign in to Citizen Pay, attach your business, and the fund's token switches on for your places.

Step02

Collect

Every tap adds tokens to your balance with the fund. One token is worth one euro.

Step03

Payout

On the cycle the fund sets, it pays what it owes you by bank transfer, minus the fee it configured.

Step04

See it all

Incoming payments, fees and payout history sit in your Citizen Pay dashboard, next to your QR and token sales.
