About

European payment infrastructure, built in Europe.

We make the devices that take the payment, the software that runs them and the service behind both. All of it in house, all of it from Brussels.

Mission

Payments should be simple, affordable and close to home.

Most of the money in a European shop, bar or machine travels a long way before it comes back. We think it can travel a shorter one: from your customer's bank account into yours, in seconds, for a few cents rather than a percentage of everything you sell.

That's why we build direct bank payments first, and why we build everything ourselves. When the hardware, the software and the rails come from one team, the cost stays understandable and the improvements keep landing.

It's also why we're comfortable pairing our terminal with a certified partner card terminal on vending machines. Our job is to give an operator a real choice of rails — not to decide for them at the machine.

What we stand for

Four things we refuse to compromise on.

Independence

We own our stack end to end, so our roadmap answers to the operators using it rather than to a chain of suppliers.

European rails

SEPA Instant and open banking are European infrastructure, already regulated and already in every bank. We build on them by default.

Full-stack, in house

Hardware, firmware, dashboard and support come from the same building. One team to call, one team accountable.

Honest economics

Cents per payment, no subscription and no contract. We only win when the operators using us pay less.

The company

Started in Brussels, built for the counter.

Citizen Pay BV is a Belgian company. We started by putting terminals on real counters — cafés, shops, market stalls — and learning what breaks when a queue forms.

The spaces and operators we work with now asked for more than one way to pay: a fridge that takes QR, a bar that takes everything, a machine that runs on member credit. So the terminal became hybrid, and the product grew into hardware, software and service as one offer.
