One terminal. Every way to pay.
The Citizen Terminal accepts QR bank payments and member tokens on a single device — at the bar, on a fridge, or inside a vending machine. On vending machines it pairs with a certified partner card terminal to add cards. We build the hardware, write the software and run the service.

Built for the places people actually pay.
Two segments, one platform. Same hardware, same dashboard, same pricing — whether the payment happens at a counter or with nobody watching.
Co-working & coliving spaces
Honesty bars, staffed bars and member credit — so the fridge pays for itself and the bar runs without a cash box.
- Honesty bar or fridge, unstaffed
- Staffed bar at the counter
- Member tokens on a badge or in the app
Vending operators
Retrofit the terminal onto the machines you already run — badge-only, payments, or both — with sales and stock in one dashboard.
- Fits standard vending interfaces
- Badge-only, payments-only, or both
- Live sales and stock telemetry
Something else?
Campus cafeterias, clubs, festivals, retail counters — if people pay for something, the terminal fits. Tell us what you're running and we'll tell you straight whether it works.
Three ways to pay. One dashboard.
Our terminal handles QR and tokens. On vending machines, a certified partner card terminal pairs with it to add cards — so you turn on exactly what a site needs.
QR
Straight to your bankYour customer scans the code with their phone camera and approves the payment in their own banking app. The money moves account-to-account over SEPA and lands in seconds, for €0.04 + 0.15% per transaction.
- No app to install — 1,800+ European banks
- Approved with face, fingerprint or PIN
- Settled in seconds via SEPA Instant
Cards
On vending, via partner terminalOn vending machines, our terminal pairs with a certified partner card terminal so the machine takes contactless cards and phone wallets too. Cards run on the partner device; ours handles QR and tokens.
- Contactless cards and phone wallets
- On vending machines, via a paired partner terminal
- Reported in the same dashboard
Tokens
On a badge or in the appClosed-loop credit for your members. They top up once and spend it at the bar, the fridge or the machine — by tapping a badge or paying from the app. Same tokens, two carriers.
- Top up once, spend all week
- Tap a badge, or pay from the app
- Grant credit as a perk
You decide, device by device.
A fridge takes QR and tokens. A staffed bar takes QR and tokens. A vending machine can run on tokens alone, on payments, or on both — with cards added by the paired partner terminal.
A badge is not a separate payment method — it is simply the physical way to spend tokens without opening the app.
We build all three. In house.
One team designs the terminal, writes the software and answers the phone. Nothing is subcontracted, so nothing gets lost between suppliers.
The hardware
Designed and assembled in Europe. Screen terminal, QR plate, badge reader — one family, one set of mounts, one charger.
The software
Terminal firmware, the payment rails and your dashboard are one codebase. A new acceptance method arrives as an update, not as a new box on the counter.
The service
We set you up, monitor your fleet and pick up the phone. If a machine goes quiet, we usually know before you do.
One supplier, one number to call, no finger-pointing between vendors.
Your terminal. Your choice of rails.
Every QR payment travels straight from your customer's bank into yours. That changes both the economics and the timing in your favour.
€0.04 + 0.15% per payment
A few cents of fixed cost plus a percentage a tenth the size of a typical card rate. On a €24 basket, that comes to about €0.08.
Money in seconds
SEPA Instant settles while the customer is still standing in front of you. No end-of-day batch, no weekend wait, no pending state.
Nothing for your customer to install
They pay from the banking app they already use. 1,800+ European banks are supported out of the box, including every major Belgian, French, Dutch and German bank.
Approved inside their own bank
Each payment is confirmed with a face, a fingerprint or a PIN in the customer's banking app. No card details ever pass through your terminal.
Indicative figures, at €0.04 + 0.15% per bank payment against a 1.5% card rate. On vending machines, card acceptance stays available through a paired partner terminal — most sites run a mix.
Built on the rails your bank already runs on.

Bank payments grow every month.
Across the cafés, shops and spaces running Citizen Pay today, the share of payments taking the bank rail climbs on its own. Within four months, one payment in three goes straight from bank to bank.
Increasing without incentives. Customers pick the QR when it's offered, and keep picking it. Operators keep offering it because every one of those payments costs them less.
“We only win when our customers pay less.”
— Citizen Pay, on how we're built
Straight answers.
Our terminal takes two methods: QR bank payments and tokens. On vending machines it pairs with a certified partner card terminal, which adds cards — so a machine runs badge-only, payments-only, or both. You set it per site from the dashboard.
A token is closed-loop credit. A member tops up once and spends that credit at your bar, fridge or machine. They spend it by tapping their badge or from the app — same credit, two carriers. You can also grant tokens as a perk: a welcome drink, an event voucher, a monthly allowance.
No. For QR they pay from the banking app they already have — 1,800+ European banks work out of the box. For tokens, a badge needs nothing at all. On vending machines with the paired partner terminal, cards tap as usual.
QR bank payments settle over SEPA Instant in seconds — you see the confirmation on the terminal before the customer walks away. Card payments on vending machines settle on the partner's normal schedule.
The terminal connects to standard vending machine interfaces, MDB included, so in most cases it retrofits onto the machines you already run. Send us the models and we'll confirm before you order anything.
No contract, no setup fee, no subscription. Send the terminal back whenever you want.
